Summary
On 1 July 2003, the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families entered into force. By 1 October 2005, 33 States had ratified it or acceded to it. The Convention sets standards for the laws and the judicial and administrative procedures of individual States. This fact sheet provides information on: The drafting history of the Convention; Its structure and main features and provisions; The Committee established to monitor its application; How the Convention relates to other international instruments; Recent developments and initiatives to promote and defend the rights of migrant workers.
