- The report is based on in-depth interviews with 106 trafficking victims conducted in 2001-2002 in jails and hiding places. It also draws on statistics for deportations of women, newspaper articles, legislation, case law, and earlier publications. What makes it unique is the way that it conveys the actual experiences of the women themselves, describing the constant abuse endured by them 24-7. The report's authors underscore the various enforcement authorities' powerlessness when tackling women trafficking, and in particular in their treatment of the victims themselves. They warn about police involvement in trafficking, as brothel customers, on friendly terms with the brothel owners, and in some cases even cooperating directly with the pimps and traffickers and taking part in the actual trafficking.
