Summary
In this commentary the UNHCR comments on the Proposal for a Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on preventing and combating trafficking in human beings, and protecting victims. The UNHCR appreciates and values the effort to combat trafficking in Human beings. In the response UNHCR calls for a Human rights based approach and stresses that identification of (potential) victims is as imperative as prosecution. UNHCR makes 12 reccomendations to improvements that should be taken into consideration in the proposal.
