In July2010 UNDOC published a review with the aim of describing major findings onmigrant smuggling into, through and from North Africaand to highlight areas regarding the same field where further research is needed. The review is a follow-up publication to the Global Review and Annotated Bibliography of RecentPublications on Smuggling of Migrants.
The used literature is divided into thematic chapters covering various areasincluding migrant smuggling routes, profiles and characteristics of smuggledmigrants, smuggler-migrant relationships, organizational structures ofmigrant-smuggling routes, modus operandi of migrant smugglers, smugglers feesand the human and social costs of smuggling.
